Corporate Team Building
Many managers think that simply collecting a group of people together is all that is required to create a good team. The reality is very different.
Successful organisations ensure that their staff operate as a co-hesive team.
Any organisation is as good as the people they put together. Each person brings with them a unique set of skills, knowledge, intelligences, attitude and "baggage".
Build the team so that they work together as an effective unit and the resource grows potentially to provide not only the individual set, but also a huge range of benefits that positive interaction can create.
A cohesive team facilitates the pooling of skills and experience, keeps ideas buzzing and enables people to find creative solutions to any problems they face.
The Benefits of Team Building
Organisations where people pool their knowledge, skills, imagination and ideas have so much more of a resource to draw upon.
It is possible to draw upon people's strengths and minimise their weaknesses.
Those who are great at coming up with the big ideas, or starting projects can be teamed with the 'details' people, those who love to analyse data, the finishers, marketers and so on. When managed well the team can accomplish so much more in much less time
Team building and project leadership training provide a rich environment for people to develop professionally. Modelling excellence can take place easily, the development of new skills and leadership can be encouraged and succession planning is far easier.
Teamwork Activities support good communication within the team and with the rest of the organisation.
Teams have their own ongoing "Masterminding" group on tap.
Where the team learns to work well together, there is an increase in job satisfaction. This impacts on the levels of absenteeism and on the retention of good staff. People want to engage with their team, it creates a sense of good will. Both job satisfaction and good will have a value which is priceless.
Building your own Dream Team
Creating a Great Team needs time to be set aside for Team Building.
A successful football team is one where players work tactically together to beat their oponent. They spend a great deal of time playing together outside of match situations to learn how best to interact with one another. They work on their individual skill sets and the skill of playing with their team. When ever there is a change of tactics or team member the dynamics change and the team needs to be prepared for it.
Your team is no different.
Good team behaviour needs to be learned and your team(s) needs time
to come together to learn how to get the best out of one another.
Failure to do so can have the potential to create difficulties in
relationships, communication and in productivity.
Team development, teamwork activities and project leadership training
provide opportunities for your staff to add value, to become part
of an effective team and to develop problem solving and leadership
skills. The quality of relationships can enhance job satisfaction,
provide succession training and an opportunity for growth and development.
Graduate Solutions offers tried and tested team building ideas and teamwork activities which underpin the cohesive development of your team(s).
Consider your own team. How well is it working together?
